The Tap Tables
Artist-in-Residency at Autodesk
2015
These investigations focus on how 3D-printed joints can replace wood joinery in furniture assembly. The 3D prints explore formal means of expression unique to the properties of the material, rather than attempting to mimic traditional wooden joints.
The table was first made using an Objet 3D printer, and then – to create a more accessible design – adapted to be printed on a Dremel Ideabuilder, without the need for any support material.
